What is the distance of this race?

The River Run is a Certified Half Marathon - 13.1 Miles

How much does it cost to participate in this event?

The earlier you commit to running or walking the River Run Half Marathon, the lower your registration fee will be.
Tiered pricing is in place to support participants who register early with caps built into each block.

Is there an age requirement to register for this race?

Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Can I have my race packet mailed to me if I don't want to pick up race week at one of the mandatory packet pickups?

Yes! Registrations made through midnight August 28th can opt for race materials to be mailed out in advance for an additional $10 fee.
You must select this option when you register in order to receive your bib and t-shirt through the mail.

Will you send me a confirmation?

All registrations will receive confirmation via e-mail.

I can no longer participate in the race (injury, scheduling conflict, etc.), what are the refund/transfer policies for the race?

There will be no transfers on race day.

Transfer Information
To complete a Transfer, go to your profile on Runsignup and chose either the refund transfer or gift transfer option.

Enter in the Transferee’s name and email to send them the transferring registration. Once the transferee completes the registration, the original registrant is removed from the race.
Refund Transfers: Transferee pays the current price of the registration. The original registrant pays a $10 transfer fee
Gift Transfer: Transferee’s registration is free. The original registrant pays a $10 transfer fee.

If I’m unable to attend and already registered, can I still get my shirt?

Yes, you can pick up your shirt at one of the listed packet pickup locations or at the Hermes office after race day- we do not mail shirts unless otherwise stated. Please call the office ahead of time to let us know you are coming at 216-623-9933.

Am I required to pick up my race bib and shirt at packet pick up?

YES you are required - there will be no race day packet pickup.

Aren't sure if you can make the packet pickups throughout the race week?

Have your packet mailed for an additional $10. Go through your run-signup account and select "add-on purchase to purchase shipping!

Can someone else pick up my race bib and shirt?

Yes, both can be picked up by/for family and friends. It’s always a good idea to have confirmation e-mail ready.

How is this race timed?

This race is an official chip timed half marathon using MyLaps Bib tag timing system.

Timing chips are attached directly to the back of your bib number and are to remain adhered for the duration of the event.

Bibs must be worn on the outermost layer of clothing.

What do I do if my results are incorrect or missing?

After the results have been officially posted, please contact roadracing@hermescleveland.com with any questions or concerns.

Does this race provide any kind of awards?

Overall winners are based on Gun Time.

Age Group winners are based on chip time.

Do I have to run the race or can I walk instead?

You may walk the course but must select for the walk at registration which starts at 7:00am to give yourself plenty of time to complete the distance.

This 7:00am start is for walkers and runners maintaining a 13:45 min/mile pace or more.

How is the course? Does it have many hills? Is there water/restrooms on the course?

The course is relatively flat and entirely on pavement. There are restrooms placed every few miles along the route along with water stops every 2-miles.

Nutrition will be at Miles, 8, and 10.

For how long will the course be open?

The River Run Half Marathon has a course time limit of 3 hours and the course will close at 11am.

After that time, the course will re-open to vehicular traffic and any participants still on the course will be asked to move to the bike trail.
You must maintain an average 13:45-minute/mile pace or faster, completing the half marathon distance—start line to finish line—within the event time requirement.

Participants who may not meet these requirements are required to register for the Half Marathon Walk - starting at 7:00am.

Where can spectators, friends, and family watch on the course?

Can they be at the start or finish areas?

YES! They can park at Rocky River HS and take the shuttles down starting at 8am!

Can I wear headphones?

Yes, you can. We recommend keeping the volume low and must be aware of runners around you at all times.

Is there a bag check?

Yes, it will be located at the start line of the Half Marathon and will be transported to the finish.

BAG CHECK CLOSES AT 7:50am

Can I use a stroller/bring a dog to run this race?

No, neither strollers or dogs are allowed to run in this race.
